i think i can, i think i can, i think i can…

by z.lynn

my least favorite household maintenance activity is the laundry. i will do anything before i do the laundry. for me, it takes a lot of time to wash, dry, iron and fold several loads. maybe it takes me so long because i don’t derive any enjoyment from it. i’m not sure. but like the little engine that could, i will keep on going and do what i gotta do!πŸ™‚

stone cold blast

by z.lynn

My honey bunz and I were invited to a 70’s soul party tonight and had a “stone cold blast”, as per the infamous Don Cornelius of Soul Train. It was great to get a chance to let my hair down (or put it up into my wig). These are the foxy shades that over-saw the entire event:

This is my attempt at a self-portrait. I think I’m looking ‘dyno-mite’!

Rachelle, Cleo and Angela, thank you again guys, we had a great time! Everyone was so creative with their costumes. I’ll post more pics tomorrow!

Gnite all!

with this ring…

by z.lynn

a ring is used as an outward symbol of the marriage arrangement. the ring itself, signifies eternity or an eternal bond, an endless bond. today, the bond of marriage is taken too lightly. marriage is a commitment.

coupled together, you

admit your love and devotion and

ce-ment the bond for eternity.

let’s do what it takes to never break that circle of commitment.

my lonely ball…04:365

by z.lynn

i caught my exercise ball watching The Wendy Show without me today. what in the world?? i dusted her off a few months ago and she’s been acting up ever since. you see, she and i have a love-hate relationship. i love her so much but i hate to use her just for her resiliency andΒ  her fully inflated frame. if i were to do such a thing, it would be an extreme abuse of our friendship. i wouldn’t feel right doing that to her. i think i will set up a playdate for her with my dumbbells, they’re a little lonely too.

blood for breakfast, anyone?

by z.lynn

just for the record, i am not a vampire. (vampires aren’t real anyway!)Β  i do enjoy a little blood for breakfast… blood oranges, that is. this a very interesting fruit, but don’t allow its’ appearance turn you away. you can’t judge a book by its’ cover!

according to livestrong.com, blood oranges are nutritionally similar to traditional oranges and have few differences:

  • darker pulp, resembling a blood-like appearance (thus the name)
  • less acidity than regular oranges

with my citrus allergy i itch like crazy, from head to toe, if i’ve had too much citrus. so the fact that the blood oranges have less acid is great for me. i remember trying the ‘master cleanse’ detox (you know, with lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup…yeah that one) and by the end of day 1, i could hardly stand the itching! so, now, i get to enjoy the juicy oranges that i love and can have as many as i want.

go on and enjoy some blood for breakfast!

do as i say, not as i do…

by z.lynn

since my goal is to become more organized, i figure that everyone else in the house must do it too. just because I haven’t quite gotten there yet, doesn’t mean that the rest of my family can’t do their parts. i found some great household organization templates from Money Saving Mom (:-) thanks so much!) and decided to put them into use for my family and i. my daughter was the first to post hers on the fridge and she even was ticking items off her list! Here’s a shot of her chore chart handiwork:

365 project or bust!

by z.lynn

according to the project’s website,”The 365 project is a photography project where you document a year of your life by taking a daily photo…All you need is a camera.”

this project typically begins on the first day of the new year, so yes, i’m totally late in starting this project. see, what had happened was…i procrastinated…there i said it! I often just jump feet first into whatever I’m doing without any forethought. and am just like, ‘come what may – bring it on. i can handle whatever!’ that philosophy, however, shouldn’t be applied to everything as it won’t always work outΒ  i.e. marriage, having children, etc.

so in trying a different approach to organization and planning in my life, i decided to plan this project. i planned to do this but i didn’t get started. go figure. so this is one of those things that i could have jumped foot first into. well, they always say that ‘hindsight is 20/20’.

so i’m figuring…why not start at anytime? the goal is to document one day at a time for 365 consecutive days, to improve your photography skills, to commit and follow through on such a project. it doesn’t really matter when i start, just as long as i finish, riiight?. so, that said, my 365 project will commence today and continue through until february 20, 2012.

of course, if i want to begin again next year on time, with everyone else, i will have to start the 2012 project on 01/01. but i will still have the 2011 project going on until it’s completion on 02/20/12. so i will probably have to provide 2 pics a day, technically. or would one pic suffice for both projects. but since they’re different they’d probably need different photos. aye, aye, aye!

oh, whatever, i’ll cross that bridge when i get there…for now, my 2011 project is underway! stay tuned, i’m gonna pull a picture out of my hat…

love is in the air

by z.lynn

There is nothing sweeter than new love. That kind of pure, gentle love that takes your breath away, makes you stutter and stumble when you see the object of your affection, or even when you hear their voice. It makes your heart skip a beat. And just when you think you can’t take it anymore, it pulls you back in deeper and deeper.

When the normalcy of life sets in, we tend to forget that love. Working 9 to 5, rushing home to cook dinner or pick up the kids from school and by the time you get in the bed, it’s just long enough to say, “I love you, honey”, and you’re fast off to sleep, only to begin the same cycle again the next day.

I enjoy capturing that new, special love that engaged couples evoke. I am in love with love, therefore I aim to spread the love…

Here is a recent shoot with a cute, young couple to be married this summer. Enjoy!
